Bridgend County Borough Council’s Economic Development Unit is working in partnership with energy consultants, Enica to offer Bridgend based small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) specialist free environmental support.
The support package will promote energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and contribute to building a low carbon economy in Wales.
Companies with a combined energy bill of over £5,000 per annum will be offered the opportunity to have their half hourly energy consumption analysed, and alongside a review of operations, the consultants will identify and quantify opportunities to make savings in liaison with the unit’s Business Regeneration Coordinator.
Tammy Raz-Nick, Business Regeneration Coordinator for Bridgend County Borough Council said: “The support package will offer data collection and analysis with assistance to implement the identified savings. There is also the option for businesses to apply for a capital grant scheme of 40% up to a maximum of £10,000 in order to achieve this. Our aim is to reduce the energy consumption within each business by at least 5%.”
Councillor David Sage, Deputy Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council said: “This project is excellent news on two levels; it‘s good for the environment and it’s beneficial in terms of adding value to the business and subsequently improving the bottom line.”
The project runs until 31 March 2011.
