Torfaen Council is calling for local sports clubs or voluntary/not for profit organisations to bid for the multi-use games area (MUGA) currently based on the former Hollybush Primary School site.
The former school is due to undergo demolition, after it merged with Brookfield Primary to create the new Nant Celyn Primary, and with the new school boasting its own superb leisure facilities, the Hollybush MUGA is now surplus to requirements.
The council is looking for a new home for the multi-use games area, and is offering the facility to local organisations although preference will be given to Torfaen-based voluntary or not for profit organisations.
The MUGA is 1598 sq m (17,200 sq ft) with 4 floodlights and fencing which are included. The successful purchaser would need to dismantle it and remove it from the site, although we will provide advice on how to go about this.
A Torfaen Council spokesman said: “These facilities are always really popular which is why we want to find a new home for the MUGA where it can continue to benefit the Torfaen community. It would be great asset for any sports club or organisation that could benefit from a facility which enables people to be active, whatever the weather, all year round.”
If you would like to bid for the MUGA or seek more information, contact the council’s Asset Management Team on 01495 742901 before 26 May 2011. Planning advice will be also be required.
