A Wrexham songstress has landed her biggest prize yet after winning the international medal and a cash prize at the Llangollen International Music Festival.
Rebecca Roberts, 20, of Holt, near Wrexham, wowed adjudicators in the Songs from the Shows competition for the over 18’s.
And Rebecca, who is currently working as a wedding singer and dance school teacher, says she was thrilled to have won and hopes it will help toward her dream of appearing in a West End show.
She said: “I was so nervous, shaking like a leaf. I chose songs from The Scarlet Pimpernel and Funny Girl which were very contrasting pieces.
“I’m hoping to study musical theatre at university and this win is massive for my CV. If I ever get anywhere near a West End stage my dream will have come true.
“It was a very tough competition and I am so thrilled to have won. I just can’t believe it.”
