The volunteer RNLI crew from Holyhead were called out at 4.25pm on Sunday (7 August) following reports of a 23 foot speedboat in difficulty with three adults and two children on board.
The speedboat had overheated two miles east, north east of Holyhead harbour and the crew were unable to make their way back to port. The crew of the vessel had to drop their anchor and standby for assistance to arrive.
A local fishing boat stood by until the Holyhead inshore RNLI lifeboat arrived. The Holyhead RNLI lifeboat and her volunteer crew soon arrived and set up a tow. One of the lifeboat crew transferred to the stricken craft until all were safely returned to Holyhead Marina.
