Homes Sought for Rare Black Poplar Trees

denbighshireWoodland charity Coed Cymru are appealing for planting sites in Denbighshire for young Black Poplar trees. This follows on from a survey carried out in 2012 which identified some trees never before recorded in the UK. Since then cuttings have been taken, successfully grown on, and are now ready to plant back into the landscape.

Mike Hughes, Woodland Officer for Coed Cymru in Denbighshire said:

“the sort of site we are seeking will ideally be situated within the flood plain and have some protection from grazing animals, they can be incorporated into existing hedges if these are not going to be flailed. We have 150 trees available, free of charge, for people with a suitable site”.

Any landowners who have sites that may be suitable are being asked to contact Mike on 01824 708265 or via e mail on: [email protected]
