On Monday afternoon at about 3.30pm Horton and Port Eynon RNLI inshore lifeboat was immediately launched to the aid of three people who had got into difficulties in a rip tide at Three Cliffs Bay, South Gower.
The lifeboat as well as the RAF helicopter from Chivenor were immediately tasked by Swansea Coastguards, but fortunately the three managed to get ashore before the lifeboat and helicopter arrived .
When ashore they were checked by the lifeboat crew and Oxwich Coastguard and no medical assistance was required.
It is advisable to check with the local coastguards, lifeguards, or local lifeboat stations as to where it is safe to swim, especially while holidaying in a new area.
Rip currents are one of the foremost problems for swimmers and surfers.
The lifeboat left the scene and back at station was refuelled ready for the next service
