During the last year local businesses and contractors have been going through the long tendering and interviewing process to be selected to undertake the improvements programme to bring every Tai Ceredigion home up to Welsh Quality Housing Standard by 2015.
The Ceredigion based housing association had promised to build on the previous work done by the County Council with local contractors and has done this by making them aware of the building contracts going out to tender and helping them to find independent advice and support with bidding for those contracts.
Aberystwyth based Electrical Estimates who are electrical contractors and energy assessors are one of the successful Tai Ceredigion approved contractors that will be carrying out the improvements. Victoria Kearney, from Electrical Estimates said “It’s great news for the company to be part of such a prestigious framework agreement with Tai Ceredigion. The housing association’s commitment to source local contractors and investing in the local community will make a big difference to the area. We are very much looking forward to working with them.”
Llyr Edwards, Director of Property Services at Tai Ceredigion Chief said “We are delighted to announce that all of the contractors who have been selected are based locally or regionally within Wales and we will also be working with local material suppliers and trade outlets to source quality building materials, kitchen units, bathrooms at the best prices. During the next two months we will be completing the remaining full surveys of each home and preparing the improvement programme which will be delivered by our contractors.”
