Cardiff Council’s Trading Standards is advising owners of DKB Household Switzerland AG TURMIX AX 200 Humidifiers to check their batch code and to stop using the product immediately if they find that the model they have has a batch code numbered: 2811.
The product’s manufacturer, DKB, has recalled the humidifier having found that Turmix AX 200 Evaporator, article-N° A51129, batch code: 2811, has a technical defect. In certain circumstances the heating coil fastener can become disconnected from the heating-regulator. This causes overheating and the bottom of the housing to melt. Since the risk of a fire and potential exposure to melted plastic cannot be excluded, DKB has been forced to announce a recall.
Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council, Councillor Judith Woodman, said: “Cardiff Council takes fire safety very seriously and I urge anyone with this make and model to return the product to the manufacturer immediately.”
Owners of the DKB Household Switzerland AG TURMIX AX 200 Humidifiers are advised to stop using the product, disconnect it from the mains electrical supply and check whether their particular model is affected. The only batch code affected is: 2811. This can be located on the printed silver Turmix rating label on the underside of the evaporator. All other evaporators sold by the Air and Water Center are unaffected.
A full refund or an alternative of equal value will be given to anyone who has purchased one of the affected evaporators.
