Conservative candidate for Clwyd West, Darren Millar, joined hundreds of local residents on Saturday to lodge his objections to Conwy County Borough Council’s Local Development Plan.
Darren Millar has been leading the campaign against the Development Plan which sets out the Council’s objectives and priorities for the development and use of land until 2022. The Plan includes proposals for 870 homes in Abergele.
Speaking after attending the open day in Abergele Town Hall, Darren Millar said:
“I have serious concerns about the proposals contained in the plan.
“Such large scale growth is unsustainable and would put a huge strain on local facilities such as the Abergele Medical Centre and local schools. Infrastructure such as roads and drainage systems are already under pressure in the town and an additional 870 new homes will only make these problems worse.
“These proposals are completely unacceptable and the Council is irresponsible to impose them against the wishes of local people. The proposals should be scrapped and the Council should go back to the drawing board.”
He added, “Local residents who were unable to make the event on Saturday still have time to submit their own objections. They should contact Abergele Town Council for further information on 01745 833242.”
