The Foundry Bridge in Abertillery will close to vehicles for around two weeks from Monday, 8 November 2010 for improvement works to be carried out.
The bridge – which was fully replaced by Blaenau Gwent Council as part of the multi-million pound regeneration of the town – will remain open to pedestrians and will be re-opened to traffic at the earliest opportunity.
Blaenau Gwent Council and Capita Symonds recently consulted with local councillors, the Abertillery Business Forum and Abertillery Town Council about replacing the existing parapet safety rail with a bespoke option.
Capita Symonds will oversee the necessary traffic management diversions and appropriate alternative routes are being made available.
Letters have been sent to all residents nearby, town traders and bus companies to inform them of the road closure.
If anyone wants further information about the closure please contact the Councill’s Town Centre Manager for Abertillery Karin Lamb on 01495 355565.
