At 19.51 hours yesterday evening, North Wales Police were called to the bridge over the river Dee on Castle Street, Llangollen following the report of a man a distressed situation.
A number of police officers, including trained negotiators, attended at the location along with staff from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
During dialogue between the man and police officers, the man entered the water and was immediately recovered by the emergency services. He has been taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries.
Police had cordoned off the area during the incident and the road re-opened at 21.07hours.
