Denbighshire County Council’s Street Lighting Team is celebrating after scooping a national industry accolade – for the second year running.
The team was honoured for Best Internal Service Team – Highways, Winter Maintenance and Street Lighting in the Association of Public Services Excellence, held in Cardiff. They beat tough competition from six other authorities to win the award.
Denbighshire’s submission for the award concentrated on the lead the council is taking to purchase highway lighting equipment on behalf of the North Wales local authorities.
Councillor Eryl Williams, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “I am delighted that this dedicated team has been recognised and the fact that no other team has won an APSE award two years running.
“To be honoured with this accolade on a national basis is a real is a feather in the cap of the whole team. Staff work tirelessly to provide the best street lighting possible in Denbighshire.
“The joint purchasing system has resulted in a more efficient service in terms of better working relationship with suppliers, better availability of materials, better quality, cost savings and less paperwork.
