Denbighshire County Council is looking forward to starting building works to improve facilities for Welsh medium education in the north of the county.
The Welsh Government had previously announced an agreement in principal for a £3m capital grant and an agreement has now been reached to progress with the works following discussions between Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Government.
The Council is also investing £1.3 million of capital funding for the projects.
Work will start on building an extension at Ysgol y Llys, Prestatyn, to meet the increasing demand for Welsh medium education in the area and to remove temporary classrooms on the site by September 2014.
Work will also be carried out at two other Welsh medium schools in the county: Ysgol Twm o’r Nant in Denbigh and Ysgol Dewi Sant, Rhyl.
Councillor Eryl Williams, Cabinet Lead Member for Education has welcomed this agreement. He said: “There is an increasing demand from parents to access Welsh Medium education in parts of the county.
This funding will allow these works to proceed so that we can meet the demand in the north of the county”.
