Investment in state of the art vehicles brings travel benefits for Flintshire

Investment from both Taith (the regional Transport Consortium for North Wales) and Arriva Buses Wales is providing the very latest in modern bus travel for the people of Flintshire.

The two new Optare Versa buses provide easy access and contain the very latest in passenger comfort, such as leather seats and Wi-Fi connection for passengers who wish to work or listen to entertainment whilst they travel in comfort.

The new buses are in a distinctive livery and will operate on service X44 between Mold, Buckley, Hawarden, Chester Business Park and Chester Railway Station. Electronic scrolling destination displays clearly show the service destination, helping passengers identify their service before boarding. In order to assist in passenger security, CCTV is provided. Additional safety features specified by Arriva include a new design non-accessible drivers’ cab, ensuring protection for their drivers.

This jointly funded scheme between Arriva Buses Wales and Taith will also see improvements to services 10 and 12 between Connah’s Quay, Deeside and Chester.

Councillor Tony Sharps, Chairman of Taith, said:

“These strengthened transport links are the very foundation of our economy and will ensure that local people have access to the latest in public transport facilities, to travel in comfort and to maintain vital job links. I take pride as Chairman of Taith to have secured the funding to not only maintain but also to improve our strategically important transport links, which are vital to keep our local economy moving.”

Michael Morton Managing Director Arriva Buses said:

“This five year commitment between Arriva and Taith compliments Arriva’s long term strategy to provide the latest in easy access, high quality service vehicles that offer the very latest in passenger comfort and convenience. If you have not yet travelled on one of the new modern service vehicles I would highly recommend you do so. When the cost of fuel is rising so steeply, it now, more than ever, pays to use the bus instead of the car.”
