A pilot scheme in North Wales which allowed local communities to decide which projects to help cut crime and reduce anti-social behaviour were given financial support was highlighted in the Assembly Chamber this week.
Speaking in the Chamber North Wales Assembly Member Mark Isherwood referred to the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner’s Participatory Budgeting Grant Scheme during a question to the Minister for Local Government and Government Business, Lesley Griffiths, on anti-social behaviour.
He asked the Minister: “What consideration have you given or will you give to this form of community engagement to help not only drive forward improved communities and tackling of anti-social crime, but also to genuinely deliver co-production and resilient communities?”
The Minister said: “It is certainly something that sounds very interesting. I am due to meet the police and crime commissioners next month, and I will raise it with the North Wales PCC.”
