Commenting on a Wales Audit Office report which highlights little progress in improving housing services for those with mental health needs, Shadow Housing Minister Mark Isherwood AM said:
“The Welsh Government has a habit of announcing grand strategies that are then followed by complete management failure and an inability to turn headline-catching aims into any kind of reality.
“This is a vital area that has huge significance on the independence and inclusion of adults with mental health needs, yet not only have Labour-Plaid failed to meet targets, they are not even monitoring performance.
“This is a continuing, woeful failure that simply beggars belief.
“The UK Government has consistently said it will do all it can to protect people with mental health problems. In Wales however, Labour-Plaid seem oblivious to the deep-rooted issues that can blight lives.
“It is absolutely crucial that concrete action is taken to tackle these dreadful failings.”
