A student at the University of Glamorgan Business School is set to follow the creators of Apple’s iPhone and Facebook with his plans for a transatlantic web business.
After winning international recognition in the final of a global competition, Jake Jones, 21, is in discussion about potential investment with Third Millennium Knowledge and an international marketing company. The project, a joint venture between students at the South Wales university and Jeff Palmer and Eryk Gabriel, students at Canada’s Fanshawe College, is a unique web-based social network which would provide a revolutionary new link between employers and young innovators. It successfully beat off global competition to reach the final of the Challenge:Future competition, gaining plaudits at an event in Slovenia.
Lesley Long, Business Management Scheme Leader at Glamorgan Business School says: “Jake was a fantastic ambassador not only for Glamorgan Business School, but also for Wales. We strongly encourage this competitive entrepreneurship”
Jake said: “It’s a very competitive jobs market for all graduates, no matter how qualified they are. This practical experience of real competitive business, winning the support of investors with the support and knowledge we’ve had from our University, will give us a real edge.”
