Jeff Cuthbert AM has backed a campaign to protect children from the harmful effect of second hand smoke in cars.
The Welsh Labour Government’s Fresh Start Wales campaign calls on parents and carers to not smoke in their cars and protect their children from health risks associated with second hand smoke in a confined space.
Jeff Cuthbert AM said: “Smoking in a car when a child is present puts them at risk of serious health problems.
“I am pleased to back the Fresh Start Wales campaign and I know if smoking levels do not reduce at a result of it the Welsh Labour Government will consider a ban.”
Welsh Labour’s First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “This campaign is clear in its message: smoking in cars poisons your children.
“Wales was the first UK country to vote in favour of a ban on smoking in public places and if necessary we will not shy away from considering legislation to further protect children from second-hand smoke.”
