Jenny Willott, Lib Dem MP for Cardiff Central, visited Tesco Cardiff Roath Metro store on Friday 16th September to present equipment to local schools who participated in this year’s Tesco for Schools and Clubs scheme. St Phillip Evans Primary in Pentwyn and Gladstone Primary in Cathays were represented by local pupils and teachers, who helped to collect vouchers for the scheme over a ten week period alongside shoppers and parents.
Last year the scheme bought equipment worth £8,713 for schools in the Cardiff Central constituency.
Jenny commented:
“I was pleased to take part in this presentation and it was great to see that so many schools from Cardiff Central receive equipment, which will be a real benefit to local children. I’m very impressed by the excellent range of equipment the scheme provides for schools and I would encourage all local schools and clubs to participate in next year’s scheme.
“At a time of squeezed budgets, being able to invest in high tech equipment through this scheme really helps schools. Initiatives like this make a real difference to local communities and I welcome the way Tesco for Schools and Clubs is investing in Cardiff Central.”
