Plaid Cymru’s deputy leader has reacted with anger at the hypocrisy of the Conservative party. Helen Mary Jones AM has hit out after the Tories tabled a motion in the Assembly calling for protection for health services, even though she says that they are responsible for cutting the Welsh budget by around £5bn over 4 years.
Plaid’s health spokesperson says she is shocked that the Conservative group at the Assembly could be so ignorant of the impact their actions will have on people in Wales.
Llanelli AM Helen Mary Jones said:
“This debate is utter hypocrisy form the Conservatives. I am appalled that the Tories have continually attempted to treat the Welsh public as fools.
It is staggering that the ConDems in Westminster would cut the Welsh budget by around £5bn in real terms over 4 years, on top of the £300m per year Wales has been losing out on because of the unfair way in which it is funded, and then have the audacity to try and pretend that they are in any way concerned about front line services in Wales.
The Conservatives and Lib Dems will be responsible for any cuts to health, education or social services as a direct result of their actions, or more appropriately, inaction in London. Their utter disregard for the health of the Welsh public is matched only by their bare faced hypocrisy.”
