Late night opening for Christmas Market

Swansea city centre’s Christmas Market is staying open later than usual this week.

The festive stalls on Oxford Street and Princess Way will be open until 8pm on Thursday and Friday evening to give shoppers more time to buy their seasonal essentials.

The Swansea Council-backed market is also open from 9am to 6pm on Saturday and from 11pm to 5pm on Sunday before bidding a farewell for 2010.

Over 30 stalls are available that sell a range of products such as roasted chestnuts, hand-crafted Christmas wreaths and Welsh wines and liquors.

Clothing, photography, jewellery, basketware, ornaments, international cheeses and crepes are also available.

Music and magic entertainment is being arranged from noon to 2pm on each day of the market and on selected late night shopping evenings.

Local band The Last Republic will be performing on stage in the area of the Christmas Market on Friday from about noon.

Swansea Market is also open on Sunday from 10.30am to 4pm.

Lisa Wells, Swansea City Centre Manager, said: “There’s not much time left for people to catch the Christmas Market in the city centre so I’d urge anyone interested to come and take a look.

“The market helps generate a wonderful festive atmosphere and is just one of many features helping to make the build-up to Christmas as enjoyable as possible in Swansea city centre.”
