Preparations are underway in St Asaph for the official unveiling of the new HM Stanley sculpture.
Artists blacksmiths Gary and Thomas Thrussell were commissioned to design, make and erect the obelisk depicting Stanley’s humble beginnings in St Asaph.
From the workhouse and though his life as a reporter, explorer and MP, the piece commemorates the triumph of determination and human spirit to overcome and succeed against the odds.
The obelisk includes images provided by pupils from Ysgol Esgob Morgan, Ysgol Glan Clwyd and Fairholm School.
Representatives from the schools will be present at the official unveiling, which will take place at the lower end of the High Street on Friday, 10 June at 1.30pm. The event is being arranged in partnership with St Asaph Town Council.
The first statue commemorating his life was officially unveiled outside Denbigh Library in March.
