The Vestri Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit, strategic community benefit distribution body, distributing the community funds from Wind Farm developers. Most developers are now incorporating proposals for community benefit packages as part of wind farm developments and Vestri are pleased to present the first independent All Wales approach to the provision and distribution of community benefits.
The Vestri Foundation will be officially launched at the Senedd, Cardiff on Wednesday 10th February at 5:30pm. The event shall include a welcome from Presiding Officer Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas and speeches from Jane Davidson AM, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing, Eryl Vaughan of Wind Power Wales, Ceri Doyle from the Big Lottery, Alun Pugh founder of the VESTRI Foundation.
There will also be community regeneration and microgeneration case studies from Carno and Carno School Choir will be singing a number of items to open the event.
Commenting on the launch, VESTRI Founder Alun Pugh states:
“Community benefit payments from wind energy schemes can make a significant contribution to communities ranging from small grants for sporting or cultural activities to more strategic schemes supporting community regeneration. Vestri’s not-for-profit model means that we are focused on supporting communities to get the most out of these payments.”
