One of Wales’s oldest and most established law firms has opened its first office on Anglesey as part of a major expansion.
Swayne Johnson, which was founded in 1853, celebrated the launch of its new Menai Bridge office in the Old Bank Building in the town’s Uxbridge Square just a few months after the NatWest Bank vacated the premises.
The opening strengthens Swayne Johnson’s high street presence in North West Wales with a total of six offices which stretch across the region from Menai Bridge to Tattenhall, near Chester, and employs 60 staff.
The event at Menai Bridge was hosted by Managing Director Sarah Noton and attended by clients and guests from across Anglesey and Gwynedd.
She said: “We’re very pleased to be opening our first office on Anglesey, part of our continued expansion plans which have seen us grow from two offices to six in just ten years.
“We are specialists in just about every aspect of the law and have experts in most fields across the group and having offices right across North Wales and in Cheshire means we have strength and depth and a great geographic spread.”
The Menai Bridge office will be managed by Welsh-speakers Sara Lloyd Evans, from Penygroes, and Shaun Hughes, from Caernarfon, with trainee solicitor Ceinwen Cet Jones also based there.
Sara has strong family connection with Anglesey and is an expert on family law and is active with family charities in the area while Shaun is a private client expert covering business succession planning, wills, trusts and probate and is Secretary of the North Wales branch of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Shaun said: “Menai Bridge is a gateway to the island but still with easy access to Gwynedd and this opening makes our services more accessible to our clients.
“In this area it is vital not only to be able to offer a fully bilingual service but also to offer real expertise and to have the local knowledge that Sara and I have of the region so clients can access the legal skills they need without having to go to big city firms outside the area.”
