The Old Station in Hallatrow has been named ‘Leased and Tenanted Pub of the Year 2010 by Wales’ leading pub company S.A Brain and Co Ltd. Licensees Neville and Debbie collected the award, plus a £1,500 cheque, at a ceremony held in Cardiff.
Richard Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Brains, said: “This was an excellent opportunity for us to celebrate the best pubs and people, and in addition recognise the individual strengths that each pub has to offer. Last year was an excellent one for Neville and Debbie and this award is richly deserved.”
Four other pubs were recognised at the Leased and Tenanted awards. Runner up in the Pub of the Year category was the Crown Inn, Tenby, which is run by father and son team Adam and Andrew Sammons. The title Brains Beer Pub of the Year went to Jerry and Pamela Nash from the Jolly Sailor in Porthcawl, and Dee Coslett and Sean Farmer claimed ‘Most Improved Pub of the Year’ for the Splotlands. The Kings Arms in Pentrych, which is run by Padrig Jones and Lisa Jarmam, was the deserving winner of the Food Pub of the Year. Jones, the former chef and co-owner of the award winning Le Gallois in Cardiff, took on the pub at the end of 2009 has quickly established a reputation for excellent food.
