Swansea Library users have been expressing themselves in a Wales-wide competition which could put them in line to win £500 and a meeting with Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones.
Across Wales over 1500 entries have been received for the Express Yourself arts competition.
The star of the hit comedy said: “It’s fantastic that so many people have entered. It just goes to show what a creative nation we are.
“The judges have a difficult task ahead in choosing the winners but I’m sure they will have a lot of laughs and surprises along the way. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finalists’ work and presenting the prizes in February.”
Express Yourself encouraged everyone of all ages to show off their creative talents with a generic theme of libraries.
Here in Swansea, library managers have been delighted with the response from local people and by the high standard of entries.
Steve Hardman, Head of Swansea Libraries said: “We have been delighted with the response from people- some of whom had not been into their library for a while but revisited in order to enter the competition.
“Also, we have been impressed by the overall quality of the entries so it’s going to be tough for the judging panel to pick the winners.”
The Express Yourself competition is part of the national marketing campaign for libraries in Wales and is a central part of Libraries for Life, the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategy for libraries in Wales.
