Lifeboat’s “SOS” answered by boys

Aron Gavins, and Lloyd Davies (both 9) from the Old Colwyn and Colwyn Bay area, decided to raise funds to go towards the RNLI’s SOS campaign to raise funds to save lives at sea. They called their ride “Spokes On Seashore”.

They undertook a sponsored cycle ride from Colwyn Bay pier to Rhyl RNLI lifeboat station on Sunday February 13th. A total of 12 miles, which took just 90 minutes to complete with stops on the way, was completed despite the downpours and overcast conditions. They were accompanied by their mothers who also rode the distance.

They were welcomed at Rhyl lifeboat station by Volunteer Press officer Paul Frost, who took the families on a guided tour of the station as a thank you for their efforts.

To date, they have raised over £200 for the RNLI, and further donations can be given via the internet at – virginmoneygiving.com/team/SpokesOnSeashore.

Paul Frost says “The RNLI is very grateful to Aron and Lloyd for their marvellous effort in raising funds in this way. As a charity, we rely on voluntary contributions and thank them both for helping us. Their efforts are very commendable”
