Ceredigion butcher Rob Rattray is making waves in Aberystwyth after coming up with a unique recipe to mark the lifeboat station’s 150th anniversary. The shop owner is producing lifeboat coloured sausages, complete with blue and orange speckles to raise funds for the volunteer crew.
It is hoped that customers will support the unique fundraising drive and tuck in to do their bit to help the station continue saving lives at sea.
Rob says: ‘Some of the RNLI volunteers at Aberystwyth are loyal customers and when I found it was the station’s 150th anniversary, I decided to come up with something a little bit different to raise awareness of the excellent work they do, and also to raise fund to ensure they can continue saving lives.
‘We have made sausages for special occasions in the past, one of my more famous being a Mr Urdd green, white and red sausage to celebrate the Eisteddfod. The RNLI sausage contains poppy seeds, which provides the blue and marmalade and orange rind for the orange. It is certainly something a little bit different and I’m hoping my customers like it.’
