The Welsh Government has finally published their revised National Transport Infrastructure Plan to concerns that promised programmes have been delayed yet again. In the Plan the A40 Llanddewi Velfrey to Penblewin road improvements are indicated to commence within the time period 2012 to 2015.
Reading the small print associated with this item, the commitment is to commence to appoint advisors by 2015. Just prior to the last elections the then Minister for Transport Ieuan Wyn-Jones said the work on the bypass would commence in 2011.
Local Assembly member Angela Burns said, “Let me be clear, I am pleased to see movement, any movement on the long awaited and much needed relief road for Llanddewi Velfrey but I am also furious for the games that were played, the broken promises and the stretched truth. One thing is for sure no shovel will be breaking the soil on this project until well after 2015. I will be keeping up the pressure on the Welsh Government; this new road is desperately needed”
