Llanelli has provisionally suspended two of its players pending an investigation into an adverse analytical finding after the Principlaity Premiership team’s match against Newport on 14th November 2009.
Props Ian Jones and Aled Hopkins both tested positive for a stimulant banned under the UK Anti-Doping Rules. Both players have been provisionally suspended pending further investigation.
Head of Rugby at Llanelli RFC Anthony Buchanan said: “We were informed at the end of last week by UK Sport via the WRU that two of our players had provided urine samples with irregularities. This is an ongoing process and until it is completed and a final outcome is reached, it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment.”
As of 14 December 2009, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) assumed responsibility from UK Sport as the UK’s National Anti-Doping Organisation
