Staff at Jenkins the Bakers main bakery and HQ in Llanelli were shocked to open up this morning and find that all their pies had been eaten.
The culprit turned out to be PR guru Robert Lloyd who is helping them with their new website and had been accidentally locked in the bakery overnight.
Lloyd a former editor on Llanelli Star and Carmarthen Journal newspapers was trapped when the evening shift left for the night and thought he would sample a few of the renowned bakers’ pies before telephoning for help.
He told us:
“The pies were so delicious before I knew it I’d polished off a tray or two and must have fallen asleep.
“The next think I knew it was morning and the staff were trying to revive me with newly baked batch of custard slices”.
Lloyd, a well known figure in Camarthenshire, is a keen Rotarian, an avid supporter of Carmarthen Town football club and an active supporter of charities including the Llanelli Talking Newspaper for the Blind and Healing The Wounds. He offers a wide range of services, from writing stories for newspapers and magazines to providing press releases for businesses and organisations. In addition, he is able to give advice on marketing opportunities and help with event management. He currently has a couple of book projects on the go.
He also runs media training courses providing he is kept well fed. A former racing tipster, he still likes the occasional flutter. His most recent success being the reverse forecast for the Boat Race.
Jenkins the Bakers employs 70 people at the Trostre HQ, while the Jenkins shop network stretches from Carmarthen to Bridgend. There are 13 shops in Carmarthenshire and even one as far afield as Powys.
