Pupils from the Llynfi valley have been working hard to do their bit to prevent Christmas upset.
This year the Maesteg Neighbourhood Policing Team has had some welcome assistance to help them implement the annual South Wales Police Christmas Anti Drink and Drug Driving Campaign.
The Llynfi valley pupils have been working in partnership with the Cynllun Pupil Scheme and Police Community Support Officer Bella Rees.
The youngsters have created over 20 different designs of anti drink drive beer mats as part of their Road Safety studies. The mats, funded by Bridgend Safety Partnership, have been manufactured and delivered as part of the campaign package to public houses throughout the LLynfi Valley.
PCSO Bella Rees, the neighbourhood officer for the Llangynwyd and Cwmfelin Ward, said: “Drink and Drug Driving is one of the primary focuses for South Wales Police during the festive period and it is fantastic to see the young people so keen to help and support the police campaign.
“I hope that seeing the mats which have been designed by sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends will have a big impact on potential drink and drug drivers and make them think twice about taking such an unnecessary risk.
“I want to thank the pupils for doing their bit in making sure Christmas remains a happy time without the tragedy often caused by drink and drug driving and above all I would like to thank them for helping us to Keep South Wales Safe.”
