Lletti Harri road improvements

A £600,000 contract as part of the scheme to improve the top road at Lletti Harri is due to start next week (6th April).

A £600,000 contract as part of the scheme to improve the top road at Lletti Harri is due to start next week (6th April).

The work which will take place between Tydraw Hill and Ynysygwas will include securing the ground and retaining walls.  This is being done as a result of a ground investigation which found a weakness in the carriageway and retaining walls.

Contractors Bam Nuttall are expected to be complete the works in September.  This will also include building a new brick clad re-inforced concrete wall above the retaining wall, a new surface water drain and street lighting will be renewed.

To avoid future disruption the utility companies will take the opportunity of the road closure to renew the gas main, service connections and the sewer.

It will mean that the road will be closed to through traffic from Tuesday (6th) and diversions put in place to divert traffic down from the top road down Ynysygwas Hill.  Residents will still be able to access the road.

John Flower, Director of Environment, said, “This is work is an essential part of this year’s Capital Programme.  We have recognised the risks to the strategic Highway and have made it a priority to ensure that the road and retaining walls are secured and services in the road renewed.

“I can appreciate that this will cause some disruption to residents and motorists and whilst every effort will be made to minimise this I would ask that they be patient as it is vital that we carry out these works.”
