Responding to the publication of the Wales Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 Final Consultation Document, the Party of Wales Shadow Minister Sustainable Communities, Energy and Food Llyr Gruffydd said:
“The Rural Development Programme has a critical role to play in creating sustainable rural communities based on strong economic, environmental and social foundations, and we look forward to scrutinising the Minister’s proposals closely.
“We very much hope that the proposed new programme will see reduced bureaucracy and a much simplified process of delivery. An increased budget must not mean a heftier slice of the cake for consultants, but more money for action to support communities on the ground.
“Getting this right could provide a huge boost to the rural economy, and Plaid Cymru will play its part in representing the voice of rural Wales.”
