Oriel Pendeitsh in Caernarfon is exhibiting work by a number of artists from throughout the north Wales area as part of the art promotion project, Helfa Gelf/Art Trail.
This diverse and exciting exhibition which is held in partnership between Gwynedd Council and Helfa Gelf/Art Trail is open until 12 November 2011. As part of the Helfa Gelf campaign, the exhibition aims to allow the public to experience first hand how arts and crafts in the region are created.
Helfa Gelf / Art Trail is now north Wales’ biggest Open Studio event with over 200 artists taking part in Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham and is working in partnership with Anglesey Arts Week to form the North Wales Open Studios Network.
Delyth Gordon, Gwynedd Council Visual Art Officer said:
“Our aim by supporting this event is to open the studio doors to the public to expand their enjoyment of art and craft and offer an opportunity to learn more about it in the company of the artists themselves; to increase the sale of works by makers and thus contribute to the local economy and also to the tourist industry.
“Oriel Pendeitsh is pleased to support the open studios event by presenting a mixed exhibition to give a taste of the wide variety of work on view by the artists and craft workers who are taking part across five counties in the Helfa Gelf / Art Trail.”
The exhibition includes work from some of this year’s Helfa Gelf/Art Trail artists: Ann Bridges, Eleanor Brooks, Karen Cheung, Angela Evans, Sue Fielding, Jan Gardner, Nichola Goff, Myfanwy Griffiths, Sara-Jane Harper, Steve Jee, Jaime Kelly, Ann Lewis, Susie Liddle, Sharon McCaig, Jenny Murray, Tudur Owen, Pea Restall, Barbara Ann Reynolds, Vivienne Rickman-Poole, Bryan Rogers Llinos Rogers, Barry Skinner, Sheelagh Stevens and Ian Walton.
The Helfa Gelf/Art Trail project has received funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural fund for Rural Development.
Oriel Pendeitsh, Caernarfon is open seven-days-a-week, between 10am and 4pm. Entry is free.
