The Gwynedd and Mon Local Safeguarding Children Board has welcomed the publication of the National Assembly for Wales Health, Local Government and Wellbeing Committee’s report into the work of Local Safeguarding Children Boards in Wales.
The Report, which is the culmination of a detailed inquiry, considers whether Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB) are performing effectively and consistently across Wales to strengthen arrangements for protecting and promoting the welfare of children.
Iwan Trefor Jones, Chairman of the Gwynedd and Môn Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) said:
“As a Board we strongly welcome the publication of this important report. We are pleased that the report recognises the hard work and dedication of staff working in this field, that it identifies areas of good practice and emphasises the need to consistently and continuously improve in order to safeguard our most vulnerable children and young people.
“Whilst we welcome all 20 recommendations, we are particularly pleased that the Committee expects LSCB’s to make sure that all relevant organisations work effectively together to safeguard and protect children, to clarify the role of differing statutory partnerships and to create a national funding formula to support their work.
“In Gwynedd and Môn we have already adopted a series of detailed plans to address most of the report recommendations in our ‘Making a Difference’ Business Plan, and we now look forward to working with other LSCB’s across North Wales and the National Assembly for Wales to ensure that all the report recommendations are translated into action to protect children from harm and abuse.”
