Staff at Loggerheads Country Park are celebrating after the park was honoured with the prestigious Green Flag Award.
Loggerheads is located on the boundary of Denbighshire and Flintshire and is a hugely popular destination attracting over 200,000 visitors every year.
Staff at the park will be joined by members of the local community and volunteers to celebrate their achievements over brunch at Caffi Florence in the Park on Monday 28th September at 10:30am.
The Green Flag award scheme began in 1996 to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country. It is a way of encouraging others to achieve the same high environmental standards, creating a benchmark of excellence in recreational green areas.
Each site is judged on its own merits and suitability to the community it serves. Awards are given on an annual basis and winners must apply each year to renew their Green Flag status.
Country Park staff, Caffi Florence and the amazing volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure their application for the prestigious Green Flag Award was successful.
Head of Denbighshire Countryside Service Huw Rees, said: “This is a great achievement for everyone involved in helping Loggerheads win its first Green Flag Award.
“This shows that Loggerheads now joins an elite of Country Parks in the UK. Special thanks and congratulations to the Countryside Service, volunteers and officers who were instrumental in helping win the award.”
