Newport’s library services are one of the best in Wales, according to results from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Welsh Public Library Standards.
Along with public libraries across Wales, the city’s libraries were measured for quality of service delivered. Standards measured included levels of stock purchased, opening hours, accessibility and customer satisfaction.
Newport City Council and its library service achieved outstanding performances in the majority of assessment frameworks and the council made the decision to include performance against the Welsh Public Library Standards as one of the key elements within the Performance Improvement Grants.
Performance against the Standards has also been designated as a key performance indicator for Newport City Council. Although libraries in Newport are high-achieving the service continues to seek opportunities for development and to strive for improvement.
2010 will see the launch of a new service within the Tredegar Park area of the City. A wide variety of resources are available through the library service including free computer access, information services and of course books.
So why not come in and see the fantastic free service your local Newport library can offer you?
