Glamorgan 434 beat Kent 242 & 184 by an innings and eight runs
Glamorgan bowled out Kent on the third afternoon in Cardiff to seal an innings victory inside three days.
Needing 193 to make Glamorgan bat again, Kent were bowled out for 184.
The win earned the Welsh county maximum points after Mark Wallace’s 107 helped them to 434 in their first innings. Wallace passed 7,000 runs for the county and shared a record eighth wicket stand for Glamorgan against Kent with James Harris. The pair put on 139 to steer Glamorgan over the 400 mark.
Ben Wright had earlier made 82 but it was Wallace and Harris that put the home side in complete command.
Kent have a talented batting line up but struggled in the first innings as they were bowled out for 242.
Second time around two wickets for Harris saw their top three fail again. Will Owen, making his debut in the county championship this season, dismissed the dangerous Martin Van Jaarsveld and picked up 3-24.
The visitors subsided badly and only two players in the bottom seven made double figures. Two lower order wickets for Dean Cosker saw Glamorgan home.
David Harrison has been forced to retire through injury. The 29-year-old, who made his Glamorgan debut in 1999, spent the winter trying to recover from a hip injury but was advised to stop playing.
