Almost £2.4 million has been invested in improving the roads of Denbighshire during 2013/14.
Improving the condition of its roads is a priority for Denbighshire County Council and it has committed £1.2 million during the financial year, targeting the roads in the county which were giving the most cause for complaints or were posing potential risks.
In addition, there is also an allocation of £1.2 million via Welsh Government LGBI (Local Government Borrowing Initiative) funding, with this pot of money being used mainly for work on A and B roads within the county.
Works have already taken place in the Cwm, Dyserth, Glascoed, Cefn Meiriadog, Betws Gwerfil Goch, Llanelidan, Carrog, Bryneglwys Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Trefnant and Henllan areas.
Resurfacing work has also taken place on Black Lane, Ruthin; Fedw Road, Carrog; London Bridge, Llangwyfan; Derwen Llanerch Road, Graigfechan. Work is currently underway at Plas Nantglyn and Old Station Yard, Corwen.

Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “We have listened to residents who have told us that they want to see improvements to the condition of the roads of Denbighshire and we have made the funding available for this current financial year.
“The severe weather experienced over recent years has taken its toll on the condition of the roads and the Council has been looking at how best to use this funding for improvements to roads that are in need of maintenance work, whilst benefitting as many communities as possible.”
