Big hearted staff at a department store in Wrexham are planning a makeover to support a hospice’s finances.
The team at Debenhams at Eagles Meadow shopping centre are planning a Ladies Night in aid of Nightingale House Hospice.
The event will feature cosmetic presentations, free samples and a demonstration giving tips on how to make that perfect cocktail.
According to Debenhams women’s wear and cosmetics sales manager Sarah Fox every penny raised from the event between 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, May 14, will be going to Nightingale House Hospice.
Sarah said: “It promises to be a really good evening with a drinks reception at which we will be serving sparkling wine or orange juice. Then, presentations by our trained cosmetics staff to give tips on applying foundation, blusher and eye shadow.
“And we will be handing out lots of free samples and everyone who attends will be given a goody bag on departure. There will be a buffet and, thanks to Frankie & Benny’s staff, the chance to learn how to make a perfect Martini.”
She added: “We will also be holding a raffle with a Spa Day as the main prize in addition to 2 model makeovers and a photographic session as runners up. The idea is to raise as much as we can for Nightingale House Hospice.
“The hospice is our chosen charity partner and we work closely with fundraising staff to raise what cash we can to support their work.”
Peter Cross, manager of Eagles Meadow restaurant, Frankie & Benny’s says he is delighted to support the Debenhams cosmetic event and will be demonstrating how to shake and mix cocktails.
He said: “We always try and support Nightingale House Hospice whenever we can and I’m looking forward to being at Debenhams and demonstrating how to make some popular cocktails.
“And of course, once made, those ladies present at the Debenhams cosmetic event will simply have to test and taste them!”
Nightingale House Hospice area fundraiser Chris Andrews is really grateful to both Debenhams and Frankie & Benny’s for their support.
He said: “We will be at Debenhams, Eagle Meadow, supporting the event. It should be a great evening and I’m absolutely sure everyone who attends will have a great time.
“The hospice needs to raise more than £2.65m a year just to keep the doors open so we can offer palliative care to those that need it. We get just 19% from the local health board so need to raise in excess of £2.1m ourselves.
“We do this through legacies, our charity shops and events such as the Debenhams ladies night. We really are grateful to Debenhams and Frankie & Benny’s for their efforts on the hospice’s behalf.”
He added: “It’s fair to say we receive considerable support from Eagles Meadow retailers and the shopping centre’s management team.
“For example. we have worked with O2 recently on a phone recycling scheme which is benefiting the hospice. And the shopping centre manager, Kevin Critchley and his team, have gone out of their way to help us on a number of occasions.
“It really means a lot as, just as important as raising funds, we also need to raise the hospice’s profile too. The more help we receive the better it is and we really are thankful for all the support we receive from Eagles Meadow.”
Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre manager, Kevin Critchley, says he’s thrilled Debenhams have organised the ladies night and cosmetics gala event.
He said: “It’s really important and we do encourage all of our stores to support Nightingale House Hospice if they possibly can.
“The hospice is a charity that many Wrexham people hold very dear. If we can help by raising funds in support of the incredible work hospice staff do, then it’s something we are very keen on doing.”
Tickets, priced at £5, for the Debenhams Ladies Night are available from the Eagles Meadow store or Nightingale House Hospice.
