Man Banned from Keeping Animals for Five Years After Admitting to Animal Cruelty

RSPCAAn Essex man has appeared in court for deliberately harming a dog.

Alistair Turner (d.o.b 14/07/1989) of Bevan Avenue, Barking, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to Eira, a white female Bichon Frise type dog.

Magistrates in Holyhead heard that when Turner kicked Eira she flew two metres across the room and hit a kitchen cabinet.

The attack ruptured her liver and she died from her injuries. The offence took place on 23 April in 2013 at Y Bwthyn, Amlwch, Anglesey.

Inspector Andy Broadbent said: “It was an unprovoked attack on Eira, who was a family pet. It was a gruesome and aggressive act, and a deliberate act of cruelty.”

Magistrates gave Turner a five year disqualification from keeping animals, 300 hours community service and an 18 week custody sentence which was suspended for two years.
