Mardy Park Resource Centre is to host a free community event at its Hereford Road premises in Abergavenny on Saturday 21st June between 11.30am and 3pm.
All are welcome to attend and enjoy workshops, cake and plant sales and fun activities for adults and children as well as an opportunity to browse stalls set up by local groups. In addition, a free barbeque will be available. The centre staff will be on site to discuss the services offered at Mardy Park and they will be keen to receive feedback from the public.
Monmouthshire County Council’s Head of Adult Services Julie Boothroyd said: “Mardy Park is a vibrant and extensively-used resource centre but there is still more that it can do to help the local community to support each other. We want to give residents from Abergavenny and the surrounding areas an opportunity to discover what happens in the centre and to learn about the various social care and health services co-ordinated by the teams at the centre. We hope that they will contribute to developing Mardy so that it becomes a resource for the entire community”.
Parking will be very limited except for blue badge holders so people are requested to make use of the special shuttle bus service running every 30 minutes from Fairfield car park.
County Councillor Geoff Burrows, cabinet member with responsibility for social care and health added: “I’m keeping my fingers crossed for sunny weather on June 21st. This event will allow us to display to residents how Mardy Park operates as well as being an opportunity for us to engage with the public over plans for the future.”
