Dean Holdsworth told us:
“Today’s internet age means that news can be spread very quickly – quite often before we have confirmed appointments.
“We have been working very hard in preparation for January and the second half of the season and there are some major changes to be made. I am pleased to announce that as of early January Matt Bishop will join the staff on a full time basis as assistant manager. Since meeting Matt, I have been impressed with his knowledge and input and we were keen to put the right infrastructure in place to keep the club going in an upwards direction.
“Matt will be joined on the coaching staff by a new face – player / coach Wayne Hatswell. Wayne joins us from Dundalk but is very experienced in both this division and the one above. He gives us a valuable option on the field whilst strengthening our off field staff and furthering his own career ambitions. I am sure you will join us
all in welcoming Wayne to the club.
“More additions come in the form of the Forest Green Rovers pairing of Curtis McDonald and Mike Fowler. Mike is a great addition to the squad being an ex Newport player and already showing me that he is willing to use his experience to bring more success to the County with a real hunger.”
