Max Out for a Pound Returns this March

Cardiff Council’s ‘Max out for a Pound’ promotion is set to return for a second time this month.

The special promotion allows new and existing Max Card holders the use of Western Leisure Centre and Eastern Leisure Centre for just a £1 throughout March.

The four-week programme aims to raise awareness of Cardiff Council’s leisure discount card which entitles many people to substantial reductions for various sport, leisure and cultural activities across the city.

Throughout the March promotion, the centres are providing a range of activities to appeal to local residents to come and use the facilities at the special discounted price.

The special offer is aimed at encouraging members of the local community to make the most of the facilities on offer at the centres and all the fantastic opportunities to get active and healthy through fitness and sport, as well promoting the venues as places for social interaction.

Activities include gym sessions with a gym induction, group fitness classes and swimming. There are also junior activities for children such as tag rugby, football, street dance, swimming and soft play for under-fives.

Members of the public can meet the staff at the centres and have a look around the facilities whilst taking the opportunity to try different activities for just £1.

The Max Card is available to Cardiff residents who receive benefits or those aged between 16 – 18 in full-time education.

The annual card offers discounts for a number of leisure activities, up to 50 per cent off at Council-owned facilities and up to 30 per cent off at a number of private partner facilities.

Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “The Max promotion that ran at Western Leisure Centre in September was so successful that it was decided to expand the initiative to Eastern Leisure Centre.

“It is hoped that even more people across Cardiff will take the opportunity to make the most of the centres for sport and leisure activities.

“The Max Card is a fantastic scheme which enables many people to use first-class facilities at an excellent discounted rate, helping to promote healthy and active lifestyles for the future”.

The March Max Out promotion runs from March 1 until March 31.
