The CCBC Mayor has helped mark British Tourism Week by visiting Llancaiach Fawr Manor House to launch their new 2011 Events Guide.
As part of the celebrations General Manager, Diane Walker, introduced Cllr James Fussell to staff in the Visitor Centre and also to the costumed servants in the Manor House who convince visitors that they have stepped back in time to the Civil War year of 1645.
The event programme for 2011 has something for everyone from children’s activities over Easter and in the school holidays to demonstrations of historic crafts including quilting , butter and cheese making, sheep shearing, old fashioned spring cleaning and the annual fun dog show.
There will be a special day for ladies of all ages on Mothers Day Sunday 3rd April when Mum’s can visit the Manor free of charge and find out about traditional beauty remedies and the clothes they wore in the 17th century with Barbara Painter a leading costume expert. The menfolk will have a chance to try on the arms and armour instead!
Although Llancaiach Fawr is open all year round, the award-winning heritage and learning centre has recently changed its opening hours to Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 5pm and is closed to the public on Mondays (Bank Holidays excepted).
