Commenting on today’s figures which show a fall of £1.7bn in the value of Welsh exports over the last 12 months, Shadow Minister for the Economy David Melding AM said:
“It is particularly bleak to see our poor export performance over the last year – and in particular how this contrasts with Scotland which saw an increase of more than three per cent.
“It is this sort of issue which the soon-to-be-published Economic Renewal Programme must address.
“The ability of businesses in Wales to compete in overseas markets is a vital part of efforts to promote economic recovery.”
