As part of an ongoing recruitment campaign, November sees the second Merthyr Tydfil Fostering Awareness day of 2009.
The event, which will be held in Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre from 12 noon until 6:00pm on Tuesday 17th November, aims to raise awareness of the need for local foster carers and to offer the opportunity to talk to current carers about their experiences of fostering, as well as members of the fostering team.
There was a very good response to the last event in May and we were able to recruit a number of new carers as a result. We hope that the upcoming recruitment day will be just as successful.
There are no upper age limits to becoming a foster carer and one can be married, single, divorced or living together. In Merthyr Tydfil we expect people to be sufficiently mature to work with children and fit enough to provide for the child’s needs.
We are looking for people who can care for babies through to teenagers, short term and long term. We also need carers who can provide short respite breaks for children/young people and provide supported lodgings placements for young people after the age of 18. There is also a need for carers who can look after children with disabilities.
Are you able to devote the time to care for and stimulate the lives of children and young people?
