Work on a new flood prevention scheme in Abergele has been welcomed by local Assembly Member Darren Millar.
The Environment Agency Wales has begun work on a new culvert next to the bridge at Ffordd y Morfa. The culvert will help protect around 230 homes and businesses in the area currently at risk of flooding.
When asked to comment Darren said:
‘I’m pleased this work has finally started. This is an important scheme for people in Abergele who have to live with the threat of flooding.
‘I want to see the work completed as quickly as possible to minimise disruption for local people.
‘Like many people living in our area, I’m acutely aware of flooding and the misery it can cause. It is unacceptable that homes, businesses and communities in our area still have to live with an unacceptably high risk of flooding. I’ll be pressing to ensure work on other schemes, including improved protection in the Eldon Drive area, are carried out as soon as possible.’
