Darren Millar, Assembly Member for Clwyd West, has expressed his concerns over the future of a number of rural schools in his constituency.
Denbighshire County Council has announced a review of primary school provision in the Edeyrnion area. A total of seven primary schools will be included in the review, including Ysgol Betws Gwerful Goch, and Ysgol Bro Elwern.
Darren said:
‘Many parents and hardworking teachers in my constituency will be concerned about this announcement and its implications for local communities.
‘Rural schools are at the heart of towns and villages in Denbighshire, and we should do everything we can to protect them.
‘Conwy County Borough Council is already conducting a review of primary schools in its area. Now the future of primary schools in rural Denbighshire may hang in the balance.
‘I will be leading the fight to ensure that the concerns of parents, teachers and governors are heard loud and clear by decision makers at Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government.’
